Sustainable Indicators for Industrial Development Workshop held at the Sino-German Eco Park

A workshop on Sustainable Indicators for Industrial Development was held at the Sino-German Eco Park. Olaf Mumm, Max Juraschek, and Ryan Zeringue  represented the EAST-CITIES team and served as delegates and were received by the Director of the SGEP Prof. Dr. Shen Lei. During the meeting both parties discussed measures taken by Sino-German Eco Park to increase sustainability and green space in the Eco Park and between the companies who work outside the park as well as discussion into how the new Qingdao airport will influence the park’s decisions moving forward as well as ideas on how their companies can take advantage of this. Information was shared on how the SGEP measures sustainability including a set of over 700 sustainable indicators. Additionally, collaborative approaches for moving forward the project, the upcoming EAST-CITIES Symposium in Braunschweig, discussion on research topics of Qingdao and how the Sino-German Eco Park can be more integrated into the city of Qingdao were delved into. Afterwards there was tours of industrial facilities inside the Sino-German Eco Park, which offered insight into how the manufacturing facilities inside the Eco Park operated and led to inspiration on the industrial symbiosis can be strengthened.
