Qingdao Surveying and Mapping Institute hosted a symposium on Data Generation, Integration, Accessibility, and Analysis between members of the EAST-CITIES team and QSMI. Olaf Mumm and Ryan Zeringue served as delegates for the EAST-CITIES team and were received by Ding Penghui the Vice Director of QSMI. During this meeting both parties shared techniques and methods for geospatial data collection and analysis using GIS as a basis. QSMI presented work done for the Geographical Conditions Monitoring initiative. a national program in China. Sustainable standards and goals for the Qingdao region and outputs, such as analytical maps and databases, were discussed. The signing of the MOU was planned and discussed as well the EAST-CITIES Symposium in Braunschweig. Moving forward collaborative approaches for the continued development for the EAST-CITIES project were settled upon. Afterwards we visited several interesting sites in Qingdao and conducted field research.
