SP Scenario conducted an in-depth literature review of various scholarly scenario methods and statistical modelling techniques used in the field of future studies. A methodological framework was developed combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. While a qualitative approach serves to communicate and co-design scenarios with involved EAST-Cities: Establishing and Achieving Sustainability Targets in Eastern Chinese Cities 15 stakeholders and the public, numerical data and quantitative models verify the consistency and coherence of assumptions and qualitative methods. A scenario agenda has been defined by setting the objectives as well as the scope of the scenario approach – chronological time horizon, relevant issues and themes, as well as geographical extent and scale. Potential additional stakeholders were identified and key drivers of future development were defined together with our regional partners.

From this initial research a paper will be submitted to Futures 2020.
