Urban System Qingdao – A literature review

For the initial phase of the EAST-CITIES project a literature review as conducted on urbanisation processes, spatial characteristics and impacts to prepare an initial description of the Qingdao urban system. Qingdao is a rapidly growing city and current plans undertaken by the Qingdao Urban Planning and Design Institute will continue to address the urban system, notably the movement of the airport to the western side of the bay as well as the redevelopment of formerly industrial centers along the eastern bay. This paper will be submitted to the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research 2020.
